celtic association in vermont
Central Vermont is an ideal location for this unique educational institute as the majority of the local area was originally settled by Scottish and Irish immigrants. We are currently based in central Vermont’s wild hills close to the village of Marshfield. The location is secluded enough to provide an appropriate atmosphere for numerous social and musical activities, and yet close enough to two major interstates so as to be easily accessible.
Currently, the Vermont Institute of Celtic Arts provides instruction in Highland bagpipes, Scottish smallpipes, Uilleann pipes, Continental bagpipes, Irish flute, whistle, and bodhran to over eighty students. The school also offers several satellite programs in the areas of: Highland snare drumming, Highland dancing, Scottish step-dancing, Celtic Harp, Gaelic language, and traditional style fiddling.
It is our goal to promote Celtic culture in Vermont through the transmission of dance, folk customs, instrumental and vocal music.
June 15th 2024 - Highland Center for the Arts
